The Sharks have been an integral part of the development of the sport of rugby league in the USA. Not only has the club been a foundation member of the American National Rugby League competition since 1998, but the founding club members were also part of the birth of rugby league out of the Philadelphia area in the mid 90’s through start up matches on Friday evenings at Northeast High School.

The Sharks have always led the way in the development of young local talent, and built their program around American players learning to play the game of rugby league with limited dependence on foreign recruits to guide their team.

Over many seasons the Sharks have proven to be a tough opponent, consistently making the playoffs and coming close to winning the Championship Final a number of times. A trademark characteristic of the Sharks has been an uncompromising style of play that is typical of all great Philadelphia sports teams. Every club in the AMNRL competition know they have a tough game ahead of them when venturing out to ‘Shark Park’.
