• Looking Back, As We Charge Forward

The month of March for many rugby enthusiasts in the States marks the beginning of the Spring Union season.  However, the Sharks are reminded of another one of our players who left us too soon: Jesse Woodward.  Almost 11 years ago he was taken from us, and we will never forget what he meant to our family.  We will be running a series of posts throughout the month to reflect on what is important to us as players, teammates, coaches, and supporters of the game of ‘Footy’. It is said that you ‘shouldn’t look back, for it will only slow you down‘ … but taking time to recognize that we are all part of something bigger than ourselves when we take the field is an important step in advancing our sport.

Stay tuned … because we are definitely charging forward.  Next stop, the Donnybrook Cup!

Drop us a note in the comments if you want to share a Jesse story, or any other contribution that showcases the camaraderie you have experienced as a player, coach, or supporter.

I can’t believe it has been 11 years already. The last time I was with Jesse was on st patty’s day and we had a blast, which was the norm when you were with Jesse. I remember him running around like an evil leprechaun in his green hat terrorizing bars from Levittown to Philly that day. For those of you not fortunate enough to meet Jesse he was the ultimate competitor on the pitch, tough as nails, he would kill for his family, friends, and teammates and singlehandedly kept the hibos going in the late 90’s. We miss you brother.
